Rotary Carnival Draws Large Crowd in Corry

A huge throng filled the former Murphy Company storeroom on North Center Street for a Rotary Club bazaar in Corry. The indoor carnival featured a 40 piece high school band, varied displays by merchants and organizations, bingo, and lively entertainment by Ralph Dewey.

Geneva Oct 4 The League of Nations council session postponed its planned action on the Italo-Ethiopian dispute. The delay stems from slow progress by the committee of thirteen investigating the conflict. two chapters are finished and two remain. If the report is completed in time the council would meet Saturday afternoon.

WPA Band May Be Organized In This Section

WPA activities extend into unemployment relief with a plan to form a WPA band in Corry Union City Spartansburg and nearby areas. Milano Walter will handle registration and Kathryn McMahon at Erie WPA headquarters aids the project. If at least twenty five musicians join the band would serve civic programs without charge with WPA funding possible. Enrollment next week will decide if the project proceeds.

Burglary Report At Corry Area Farm Home

State troopers investigated a burglary on the Lindsey Hollow road south of Corry. A. J. Hasbrouale and family were away when thieves entered the house and barn during the past week. Bedding was recovered in nearby woods. loot amount not yet determined.

Goodwin on charges including failing to stop after an accident aggravated assault and drunken driving. Three Children Admit Theft of Newsboy Cash

Corey Caruren age 8 and two companions confessed to police last evening that they entered the Messings residence at Sherman Street and Second Avenue earlier this week and stole 0.45 dollars belonging to Frank Messina, a newsboy. They blew the remaining 7.50 and had only 1.85 left. The theft occurred Tuesday evening and was discovered the next evening. police followed the youths and they admitted the act. No arrests were made and likely settlement with the families will cover the loss.

Jury Duty Names Corrigates For November Term

Grand jurors were chosen by John Heimberger and Dell Darling for the November term at the Erie county court. The court opens Tuesday November 12 with Armistice Day as a court holiday and about 50 cases to trial including 24 alleged relief cases.
