May Hold Night Trial On Policeman
Fayette County Judge Fred C. Adams may call night sessions to speed trials for seven Connellsville policemen and five civilians charged in an alleged burglary robbery arson ring. After two days only one juror seated. 318 counts total. potential case consolidations possible. A nameless woman juror was selected Tuesday under a gag rule while private questioning of prospective jurors continues. The first trial features Thomas Boris, Raymond Mattray, and Dale Richey charged with robbery and conspiracy in a supermarket hold up.

Drops Bid Kalodner for PUC Chair in Harrisburg
Philadelphia lawyer Philip Kalodner, a pro consumer advocate, withdraws his Senate confirmation bid for PUC chair as Harrisburg leaders expect defeat. He previously opposed rate increases and faced a PUC suit. Shapp nominated him last April and August, but the Senate stalled and rejected his nomination 26 to 23 last July.
