Russia, Technically at Peace, Holds Key as War Continues
As Poland falls, Russia shifts diplomacy to the forefront in a shifting European balance. The neutral country’s pact with Germany and armistice with Japan pave its way to influence the Balkans, the Polish spoils, and potential future moves by Germany and Italy. Neutral states like Turkey and the Balkan nations watch closely, while Britain and France push to maintain the anti axis alignment. The first month of conflict ends with diplomacy reshaped and new lines likely in the days ahead.

Ten Million Dollar Boost for Dairy Farmers Declared
SPRA CUSE N Y Oct 7 Hailing a federal decree raising producer milk prices as a historic victory Charles H Baldwin executive secretary of the Metropolitan Cooperative Milk Producers Bargaining Agency said the increase would bring about 10 million dollars in extra revenue for farmers in the New York milk shed in the next seven months He noted the order matches most of the agency petition filed July 27 and gained approval from over 97 percent of producers in the milk shed This followed a year of price fluctuations after a prior marketing order had been struck down and then reinstated by the Supreme Court The agency credited united orderly action by milk producers and criticized the Dairy Farmers Union for opposing the program and seeking credit after the law was passed The drought prompted a July 27 petition for higher prices as a key life saving measure and the agency argued it was essential to save the industry

Stewart Long manager of the Corry office says the Pennsylvania State Employment Service acts as a link between employers and potential employees.
