Reservists Deny They're Lodgers in Draft Court Fight
About 300 Army reservists challenging callups say they are loyal Americans with a legitimate gripe. In a Ft Lee mess hall Richard Kronenberg 26 stressed they are not draft dodgers and would go to Vietnam if they lose. The group from the 448th Postal Unit filed suit against the Army arguing their contract requires a war declaration or national emergency for active duty. Several other reservists and National Guard members sought Supreme Court stays as orders to Southeast Asia were halted.

Nixon Dodges Question On Humphrey Bombing Stand
Detroit AP reports Richard M. Nixon refused to discuss Hubert H. Humphrey's Monday night television stand to halt the North Vietnam bombing until he reads the full text. Humphrey said he would stop the bombing if Hanoi signals a willingness to restore the demilitarized zone. Nixon noted no change in his position and blamed industry disputes over container and conventional shipping for a parallel labor impasse affecting ports and wages.

Strangler seeks ban on Boston film about his life
Albert De Salvo, who calls himself the Boston Strangler, petitions Suffolk Superior Court to block the release of The Boston Strangler by 20th Century Fox. He argues the film violates his privacy and could prejudice future trials while he serves a life sentence for assaults on four women. The hearing is set for Wednesday.

Edge Nearer Reform In Pa Courts
A legislative group advances draft bills to implement key parts of a new judiciary article in Pennsylvania. The five bills would allow county referendums to replace justices of the peace with community courts, create magistrate district classes and set salaries, require training and exams for minor judiciary, grant appeals from state agency decisions, and revise Philadelphia and Allegheny counties’ systems. The measures target enactment by next Jan, with session constraints and election timings noted. The draft on magisterial districts would set four classes by population, leaving boundary decisions to the courts. The effort is broadly endorsed by the Pennsylvania Magistrates Association.
