Washington reports officials expect recognition of Marshal Badoglio and King Victor Emmanuel by the Allies and a campaign to rally Italians against the fascist regime. Dwight D. First Class Petty Officer Charles Burkhardt of Corry, on leave with family, spent over two decades in the U S Navy.
