Three Die As Burial Vaults Slug Car On Highway

A truck carrying three concrete burial vaults failed to slow at a crossing on U S 127 three miles south of here causing vaults to crash through a car windshield. The driver Howard Eugene Short 33 died along with James Olivery King 42 and Frank Willard Keller 97 all from Simi Ohio. the truck driver William F Moyen Route 1 Jackson Center Ohio was hospitalized with minor injuries.

O'Brien Cited After Car Crash Hits Parked Vehicle

James R. O'Brien, 121 York Street, was cited for reckless driving after his 1957 sedan struck a parked car on West Washington Street at 11 30 p m. The parked vehicle belonged to Robert Umstead of 20% North Center Street. Damages totaled about 1200 with Umstead's car costing 360 to repair and O'Brien's about 850. O'Brien had been released from Corry Memorial Hospital following emergency treatment for facial injuries and possible jaw fractures. Police noted he could not recall exact events. He was to undergo further X ray examinations today to assess injuries.
