Clarion Men Lose $15,000 Court Test
In Pittsburgh on November 1948 two Clarion County businessmen lost a federal suit seeking $18,000 they say they overpaid for stock in the New Bethlehem Community Telephone Co. Judge Marsh dismissed the year-old case against the bank acting as trustee and ordered the claimants to drop a separate suit against former bank director Drohn after Drohn’s alleged sale of his stock stake. The non jury trial last year had set an $80,000 price for the controlling stock in July 1946.

The Atomic Energy Commission and the army closed the 1951 Fall test series with a seven and one of the most spectacular explosions. The finale, possibly underground, was observed by General J Lawton Collins and a group of observers as Camp Desert Rock troops participated for the first time in an atomic maneuver. The series produced important military insights and data on effects on structures and equipment, with no further reports expected beyond ARC analyses.
