Two Hurt in Auto Crashes on icy Highways in County

Several injuries reported in a string of weekend crashes investigated by state patrols. At Roosevelt Wright Way near Corry a Dodge coupe driven by Clifford Athens collided with a Buick, then with Clark Lord’s Chevrolet, injuring occupants including Mrs Bel and Aikens. On Route 77 near Spantansburg a Buick driven by Edward Kane skidded and hit W H Lexer’s car. no injuries. At Scott's Crossing a Terraplane driven by H Mateson struck a Plymouth coach driven by P Ray Bunting, causing minor damage. Patrolman J W Blythe investigated each incident.

United Press reports from Aris that France will align with Britain and launch a 7000000 navy building program. Foreign Minister von Dethas to declare in the Chamber of Deputies that aggression against Britain would trigger mobilization of France's land air and naval forces, with Belgium guaranteed the same protection.

First Test Pension Act Case Hears Federal Judge Sweeney

Federal Judge George C. Sweeney in Boonton reserved decision after a 40 minute hearing on the Davis affadavit seeking an injunction to stop Boston and Maine Railroad from withholding payroll deductions for the unemployment insurance under the national social security act. The case tests the act's application to employers and the timing suggested a ruling by December 1. Davis, a Waltham stockholder, seeks to restrain the deduction of funds to the Internal Revenue Service.

Embezzler Renkin Sentenced Four Years in Pittsburgh Case

George Renkin, 32, a playboy employee, was sentenced to four years for embezzling about 64 080 dollars from the Peoples Pittsburgh Trust Co. Roger Schmidt received two years and nine months. Judge Musmanno ruled neither is eligible for parole. Renkin allegedly used funds to impress his girlfriend Kitty McCann and his wife Mrs Renkin provided authorities with details of lavish expenditures.

New Orleans reports the death of Luca Vacarro known as Banana Boss. He came to the city from Contensa Britellina with two brothers over 50 years ago and built a vast banana empire worth millions. Fire gut Union City beer parlor and apartments

A basement furnace likely sparked a blaze that gutted the Francia Layden operated beer parlor and restaurant and upstairs apartments of Mr and Mrs P J Currin on North Main Street Union City. Youth killed in stray gunfire near Natrona Heights

Claim of 3 Million Misappropriated Funds Filed

Chicago November 30 Power and Light Company filed suit for 3 million dollars alleging misappropriation of funds. Former president Harley L. Clarke, a director who relinquished the presidency last October, is named in the suit. Clarke founded the utility in 1915 and had ties to the Australia Corporation, a New York investment group that gained control over a year earlier.

Washington November 30 Establishment of 50 Feminine CCC camps to provide jobs and vocational training for 5,000 needy girls approved as part of the government work relief program. Drunken Passenger Sentences After Moscow Taxi Massacre

Edward R. Langham 45 a Dun & Bradstreet manager died at Jamestown General Hospital after sustaining burns from a cigarette fire that set bed clothing ablaze. He fell asleep while smoking early Sunday. his wife found smoke and helped remove him but he died several hours later. Langham, longtime employee in Jamestown, leaves wife Bertha and two sons Ward and Gary, plus sisters and brothers, with funeral plans to follow.
