Harrisburg AP Gov Shapp signed a law aimed at saving motorists a nickel a gallon by restricting oil companies from canceling dealer leases. Penelec seeks rate hike for wholesale customers

Penelec filed a new tariff with the Federal Power Commission to raise rates for utilities and municipalities that buy its electricity for resale. The increases, tied to 1975 sales, would raise annual revenue by about 6.6 billion from Allegheny Electric Cooperative and 1.8 billion from others, effective December 27, 1975. The action excludes a separate 1978 filing with Pennsylvania utility regulators and aims to fund higher wholesale costs and attract investments for future capacity.
