Town to close French Creek landfill and shift to Mina site

The Town of Franch Creek will close its French Creek sanitary landfill on January 1 and shift waste transport to the Mina landfill operated by Chautauqua County. The move raises costs by roughly 1,500 to 2,000 dollars annually for residents, while continued operation at French Creek would require upgrades costing about 5,000 dollars yearly. If Mina is unsuitable, alternative methods will be explored.
