Skeleton Find May End Long Search
A five month police search for the man wanted in the fatal shooting of an 18 year old state park counselor may be ending after a hunter and his year old son found parts of a skeleton hanging from a tree in a remote area near Hillsboro West Virginia Authorities believe it may be the body of Peter Hauer 30. Identification likely after pathology review. Nearby note and evidence hint at a previous plan of self harm by Hauer. Also mentioned is Walter Smith missing since June 4 whose nude body was found in a cave in the area with gunshot wounds to neck and head. A murder warrant had been issued for Hauer. The remote site makes discovery plausible.
