Harrisburg Nov 28 Prospects for state acquisition of Pennsylvania's remaining privately owned toll bridges brightened today with an agreement to buy the Sunbury span for 650000. Highways secretary Jahn Shroyer said this will be the start after more than a year of negotiations to acquire the 10 spans. The 1845 legislature appropriated 7000000 for the bridge purchase program and authorized Shroyer to buy any toll spans or to initiate condemnation proceedings if necessary.

Bellefonte Pa November 28 Deputy Warden Rhoads reports two Rockview prison farm escapees forced Mr and Mrs Kerstetter to surrender their car. Sheldon D Miller 25 Lycoming County and Henry Van Buren 23 Bradford County were identified by the couple. The pair seized a shotgun and shells before fleeing east after escaping yesterday.

A derailment near Meadville fractured the Erie Railroad caboose, injuring flagman Tigkouski and leaving crew members shaken. Dr J C Hitter treated facial lacerations and other bruises. The disabled caboose was moved to a siding while wreckage cleared and the line was restored.

Wain township, Nov 6 Pie 40 year old Pfc. Kennett Wald, only child of Mr. and Mrs. Kennett Wald, died in Germany on November 21 from injuries in a vehicle accident. Inducted April 10, 1943, he served in medical units, trained at Camp Berkeley and Camp Bowlls, sailed to England in 1944, moved to France in March 1945, then Germany. His last letter home spoke of being well. Washington will notify parents of further details. Treasury report shows November receipts of 133,738,058.09 with expenditures 273,107,504.45 and total debt 265,200,523.80.
