Thanksgiving Weather Keeps Corry Indoors Amid Storm
Gusty winds and rain kept Corry residents indoors for Thanksgiving as the day felt more like a Christmas season. Religious services led by the Corry Ministerial Association drew small turnout, while the Stanford Lodge’s annual hat event and donations supported the lodge’s clubrooms. Travel was limited by stormy conditions, with many visitors delaying departures or staying put.

Unemployment Bill To Be Sole Business Legislature Session
Pennsylvania's first Democratic legislature will convene in a special session Tuesday to enact an unemployment insurance law nearly identical to the rejected Republican Senate measure. The plan calls for benefits after January 1, 1933, with employer assessments of 1 percent rising to 3 percent over time, and uses a federal pool for refunds to the state. Gov. Earle urged the session to avoid jeopardizing federal funding while Attorney General Mangloutt warned the measure must align with state constitutions. The draft, Margrotti said, would apply to most employees except exempted groups under federal Social Security rules.
