Erie mayor seeks big budget hike for public affairs
Erie Mayor Joseph C. Martin requests a 1949 public affairs budget of 699 465.92. The raise of 185 964 over last year funds 26 police positions two new clerks two police sergeants and two new policewomen with one to be a social worker overseeing Juvenile Crime Prevention. Additional money covers traffic control, a police radio system, motorcycles, and National Guard funds.
