Oil City Man Dies in Wreck Near Route 62
Ralph J. Heinzer Jr., 19, a Gannon College student, died in a pickup crash two miles east of Oil City while en route to his parents for the weekend. Investigators blamed a failure of the truck lights for veering off the road and into a guard rail, with the stolen vehicle’s impact leaving him with a broken neck. The pickup belonged to a local Erie cigar dealer, and damage was about $325.

Captain Koval and Lt Adalbert Beard, both WWII veterans, survived a crash in swampy Louisiana east of New Orleans. After two days wandering, they crawled from swamp land near Alabama Point with Koval uninjured but exhausted, Beard ill with pneumonia. The crash involved the plane owned by Beard. Koval reported exposure and exhaustion in a late Friday recovery.

Trucker Held in Crash Death Faces Trial
Ernest Dibble a Clarendon Pa trucker was freed on a $1,000 bond for trial in January in McKean county court on an involuntary manslaughter charge in the traffic death of Leonard Brown. Brown died after his car sideswiped the truck Dibble operated for Masterson Transfer Co on Route 6 and 219 three miles north of Clarendon. State Police cited the trucker as crossing the center line. coroner’s jury found negligence in the fatal crash.
