Winter Storms Hit Central West and Midwest Toll Mounts

A vagrant cold wave moved eastward as heavy snow forecasts were trimmed. Rain would turn to snow across the middle west today and tomorrow, with many areas reporting subfreezing temperatures. Deep drifts plagued central plains towns from Mississippi to Colorado, while the Rocky Mountain region remained partly paralyzed by snow and blizzards. Two people were missing and a 12 year old Japanese boy and James Tilford of Denver were reported missing. A California windstorm killed seven as crops and utilities suffered damage.
