Miners Strike at Wilkes Barre 1900 Paralyzed Mines
Reported from Wilkes Barre Pennsylvania on November 21 1900 large numbers of miners failed to appear at the Wanamie colliery of the Lehigh and Wilkes Barre Coal Company. They threaten a holiday until foreman Harry Houlton is discharged for interfering with union checks. Officials say meetings with grievance committees were refused and the strike will continue while Goulston remains in. Nearby Bliss Colliery workers also walk out over the same dispute. A separate note from Rome states Monsignor Pauli has appointed a bishop in Michigan, with reference to church appointments and removals.

Pittsburgh Slayer Gets Death Sentence
Pittsburgh November 20 Marcus Newman, a Black man convicted of murdering railway postal clerk McCullough and stealing a registered mail pouch containing $25,000 in February 1921, was sentenced to die in the electric chair today by visiting Judge Well of Sharfield county. Newman uttered a curse when the sentence was pronounced.
