Rockefeller Won't Seek Pa Delegates Without Consultation

NEW YORK AP Gov. Nelson A Rockefeller said he will not press Pennsylvania's 64 delegates to the Republican national convention without consulting Pennsylvania's Gov. William W. Scranton. He plans to woo Pennsylvania Republicans in his presidential bid while supporting a neutral delegation to preserve party unity. Scranton aims to keep the Pennsylvania delegation neutral until the convention opens in July and would back a primary fight only if needed to maintain unity. Goldwater remains the frontrunner for the nomination, though he has not announced as a candidate. Rockefeller will enter the Pennsylvania primary to test popularity, but not bind delegates. Scranton suggested he could run as a favorite son to keep the delegation pledged if required.
