At a grade crossing near Wellsville New York a 4 door Chevrolet was struck by Erie Railroad Train No 7 killing three occupants and injuring a fourth. Victims include Mrs Lloyd Mason Belfast NY and Mrs Dorothy Bliven Wellsville NY and Laverne Bliven age 6, with Donald Bliven age 2 in critical condition. Mason escaped, later missing. Mrs Bliven died en route to hospital. Train was late reaching Corry.

A morning blaze at the Youngsville Milling Company in Youngsville destroyed the frame mill and its contents. The fire, aided by a light breeze, gutted the building on the second floor around noon, with Warren and local fire units saving two nearby structures including the railroad station and the Youngsville Manufacturing plant. Molten metal shower fatal to one as workers burned
In Homestead, Pennsylvania, a gas accumulation in a large mould caused an explosion at the Mesta Machine Company plant.
