Prospects for Studebaker in 1984 Bright Despite Receivership
Walter H Merrick, a Studebaker dealer, says proposed reorganization will place Studebaker in a strong position by lifting debt from stock purchases of White Motor and attracting new cash. Four major banks underwrite the plan. Registrations in early 1984 show Studebaker outselling many independents. 83,000 Studebaker cars were sold during the year with 98 percent higher sales in the first nine months of 1934 versus 1933. The company has 2,000 US distributors and dealers and operates in over 800 foreign cities.
