The annual Christmas bazaar sponsored by the Elgin Beaverdam Hose Company Ladies Auxiliary at the fire hall was a successful event. Shoppers found arts and crafts, white elephants, baked goods, decorations, houseplants, and refreshments. Special awards went to Dekce Stull of Union City for a rag doll, Belle Taylor for a cake, Linda Kysor for a terrarium, and Tammy Crawford for a firetruck T-shirt.
The Catholic Daughters of American Court No. 35 met at St. Elizabeth Parish Center led by Regent Mrs. Andrew Doyle. Twenty four members approved a United Fund donation and discussed February card party plans. 4-H members Foxxi Su Miller and Misty Jo posted fourth in Harrisburg at the Pennsylvania State 4-H Show with accompanying Saddle-ites and Allegheny Riders members earning top placings in saddle seat ponies and equitation. The event coincided with the Keystone International Livestock Exposition.
Debra Jane Allen and Clarence Ben Ames were married by Rev. Harold Lyman at Parade Street United Methodist Church Union City at 7 p.m. on Friday. The couple, residing at 114 South Main Street Union City, announce an open house and wedding reception on Sunday November 23 from 2 to 4 p.m. at the church social rooms inviting friends and relatives.
Members and guests of the Corry Afternoon Bridge Club played at the YMCA with four and a half tables. Winners included Mrs. T. H. Treat and Mrs. Arthur Hansen of Union City, and others from Union City. A regular game is planned for next Tuesday at 1 PM, reservations optional through Mrs. Bartholme.
The Corry area reports on East Branch Grange 1262 attending the National Grange session in Columbus with over 20 000 members in attendance and plans for 1979 in Pennsylvania. It notes a local birth at Corry Memorial Hospital, radio interviews on WQLN Erie, and an upcoming Christmas dinner, hospital auxiliary party, and YMCA Bazaar with four grand prizes.
