A whirling snowstorm blanketed the Corry district since late Saturday afternoon, dropping 17 inches and keeping roads closed. Highway crews battled the storm as trains lag further behind schedule while traffic moved slowly throughout the area.
Snow blocked Corry roads and buses. elementary absences rose to 9 and 17 percent in higher grades, with seniors down to 7. State crews worked to keep main roads open as 15 inches fell in Meadville and traffic incidents rose across western Pennsylvania.
Police reported multiple weekend crashes around the city. Donald Jackson of Bex Street denied involvement in a pole collision on Noridy Celter Street, with his car found later. Betty Trene Bissell of Clymer and Denyer Baker of Corry were involved in a westbound collision on Route 6 near the Westelty line, causing extensive damage. Other incidents include damage on South and South Center streets from a car failing to stop, a hit on a dog, and a stalled car pushed into a cat on North Center Street. Police continued the investigation to determine responsibility.
Bear season underway at 7 am as heavy Kane and Tionesta snow pack challenges hunters. Bears over a year old are legal through Saturday with one bear per hunter and two for parties of three or more. Hunters urged to verify legal age and wear bright color to avoid mistaking a hunter for a bear.
Ford Motor Co assets as of December 31, 1950 stood at 1.469 billion dollars, up 126.7 million from 1949. Earnings retained for business were 623.8 million, up 59.9 million. The filing, signed by Henry Ford II and L. B. Briggs, notes 7.48 million shares outstanding of 5 par value 17.26 million dollars.
Snow coated roads sparked seven traffic crashes over the weekend across Corry area. The longest collision involved Mr and Mrs A L Matson and their son Eugene, with hospitalizations and suspected fractures. Damages were listed at thousands, as x rays awaited to reveal full injuries.
The Mary Piccirillo Fund closes with donations pushing total over 700 dollars. Homer Berkhous, in charge, says unpaid pledges will lift the campaign past its 200 dollar goal. Arrangements are made to allocate funds for hospital care as Mrs. Piccirilla is admitted to Mother Cabrini Hospital in Olean.

Associated Press reports Washington speculation that Chief Justice Fred Vinson could be the Democratic presidential nominee in 1952. Colorado Senator Edwin C. Johnson predicts Vinson may unite the party, while opposing Eisenhower’s nomination and urging a unity platform including civil rights shifts and anti graft honesty pledges. Johnson notes Vinson’s Kentuckian roots and close ties to Truman, with Farley as possible running mate.
A Black man seeking federal voting rights was shot and killed during a confrontation with a deputy sheriff in Nev 1. The deputy identified as David Landos. John Lester Mitchell 33 and Anemia 45 were detained after the clash. An inquest was ordered for Wednesday by Coroner Gerald Berlinot.
A seven year old girl escaped from the Gerry Me hospital ward through an emergency exit while a nurse was at the back. She walked barefoot in ankle deep snow to West Smith and Worth streets before being picked up by passersby and taken to police. No injuries reported. Authorities investigated possible negligence.
A Columbus man, Burik, posted a $1,000 property bond after a warrant alleges he took a bow saw from a former employee during a dispute over time payments. He denies the charge, claiming the saw was paid for in installments and later alleges a false claim by the complainant. The complainant testified he saw the saw taken while he was away from home and says he had not been notified.
In Oakland Maryland authorities press on in the search for the third airman missing after a B26 crash in Preston County West Virginia two bodies have been found and officials say the plane exploded mid flight en route from Pittsburgh to Langley Field Langley Air Force Base. Snow hampers rescue efforts but Langley officials hope the missing airman may still be alive with authorities focusing on a possible rescuable location on the mountain slope.
Reported clashes between British troops and Egyptian police near Ismailia as occupation prompts protests in Cairo and London. Authorities say casualties include several dead and numerous wounded. foreign minister Farag Pasha urges resolution while Britain asserts control.
Emperor Hirohito signed the Japanese peace treaty in Nara on a tour path, completing Japan's agreement with the United States. The treaty was approved by the U.S. State Department and Japan's House of Councillors with strong majorities, following earlier Senate approval.
New York November 19. Ex convict Salvatore Sollazzo awarded eight to sixteen years for wholesale bribing of collegiate players to rig basketball scores. Judge cites commercialism dominating college sports. Sollazzo previously linked to fixing game outcomes for profit.
Nov 19 report from Las Vegas states the first detonation in a new atomic bomb series occurred at the Yuces Fiat site. A flash was seen 75 miles from the test area but no immediate cloud formation appeared. Newsmen noted it as an underground explosion. Atomic Energy Commission later did not immediately confirm. This was the sixth explosion belay Fam.
