Kennedy Address Focuses on Latin American Problems
The 1964 balloting showed Florida have not backed a Democratic candidate since 1918. Kennedy lost Florida to Nixon by 47,000 of 1.5 million votes in 1960 and carried Texas by a narrow margin. Texas has 24 electoral votes and Florida 14 next year due to population gains. His major speech at the Miami Beach dinner of the Inter American Press Association will address Latin American issues. Kennedy had hoped to meet privately in Miami Beach with Argentina’s President Carlos Humberto but army officials said a possible Parliament session may require his presence at home.
