CAPE CANAVERAL AP A satellite space platform lifted into orbit but failed to eject the Ranger 2 payload for a million mile round trip. An hour later H W Hubery 64 of Warren lost control on East Columbus Avenue and slid into a embankment, totaling minor damage around $100. No injuries reported. police warned drivers to slow as slush and snow persist.
West Berlin police reported four young men from East Germany were arrested after an unsuccessful attempt to ram a truck through the wooden barrier at Babelsberg on the main highway into West Berlin. Shots were fired by German customs officers but no clear injuries were confirmed.
