The Agriculture Department reports the nation's hay supply will be the smallest in eight winters. 1975 hay production reached 120.2 million tons, up 2 percent from 1974 but 3 percent below 1973. Carryover hay at May 1 stood at 18.6 million tons, down from 25.5 million. Total supply for 1975 76 is 148.8 million tons, down from 152.5 million last season.
