Manis Slain in Home While Eating Supper

In Olean on November 17 Dominic Scorio aged 2 at 1908 Spruce street was killed with a revolver shot to the back of the head as two assailants, believed foreigners, fled after a disturbance at his home during supper. Police tied the slaying to ongoing gang warfare across New York and nearby Pennsylvania that has claimed about a dozen lives in recent years. The discovery followed a woman’s telephone report and a front window breaking by Scorio’s wife, with no clues left for investigators. Coroner Burdick took the body to Heenan parlors. Scorio had lived in Olean seven years and was married five. A cousin had been murdered near Johnsonburg, Pennsylvania, years earlier, with a dismembered body found in a barrel. A dynamite blast at a relative’s home in Bradford, Pa., recently was viewed as the war’s first move in months.
