Rent Subsidies Misused in Pennsylvania Housing Programs
U S Rep Kostmayer charges more than a half million dollars in federal rent subsidies misapplied in 21 low income and elderly housing projects due to a HUD PHFA misinterpretation. He says the overpayments may range from 500000 to 1 million and hearings will begin Tuesday at Lancaster County Courthouse annex.

Winter Weather Triggers Four Weekend Crashes on Area Highways
State police report four crashes over the weekend due to slick roads. One collision on Route 6 west of Corry sent three passengers to Corry Memorial Hospital and the driver to an Erie hospital. Drivers Joseph Siefert of Erie and Janice Glot of Sugar Grove were treated, with Glotz’s vehicle sustaining moderate damage and Siefert’s heavy damage. Glotz car eastbound tried to slow and rear ended Siefert’s westbound vehicle, sending Glotz off the road into a tree. A separate one vehicle crash occurred on Route 425 at 8:10 p.m. yesterday.

No Hitches On Snow Crew's First Outing
City crews handled the first snows of winter with no apparent problems. Grice said plows and graders were out to run drills and clear walkways after the storm. Barn Fire Causes $1500 Loss Near Union City
About $1000 damage struck the barn and $500 to the contents in an evening blaze at the Carlton Curtis farm near Union City. Fire control received a 4:35 PM call and summoned Bloomsfield and nearby departments to assist. Fire officials cited a faulty electrical heater cable as the cause. firefighters were on scene about two hours. Standby coverage involved Mlgin-Beaverdam and Centerville volunteers.
