Milk Company Increases Price Across Midwest States
Milk Inc raises wholesale price by 30 cents per hundredweight effective December 3, bringing costs to 9.73 in Youngstown 9.72 in Pittsburgh and 9.76 in Cleveland. Retailers expect half pint milk prices to climb about two cents to 65 to 69 cents. The cooperative cites a 9.1 percent drop in milk production last September to explain the hike. It has raised prices by a total of 2.40 this year after increases in February August September and October. The co op covers western Pennsylvania most of Ohio and part of West Virginia and represents about 6 500 dairymen including some in northeastern Indiana.
