Navy detector called happy-go-lucky by chums
A 19-year-old Navy airman apprentice Michael A. Lindner described as a happy go lucky boy was among four U S Navy men who reportedly defected from the 7th Fleet carrier In trepid amid opposition to Vietnam involvement. Lindner from Mt Pocono Pa enlisted last January and is believed to be in Japan or another non war country. His parents Charles and Mrs Lindner work at Tobyhanna Depot and no background signal of fanaticism was found. A Japanese peace group said the four sought political refuge. Reverend Charles Adams noted no alarming letters from Lindner home.
