Indictment of Willman challenged in Erie court
District Attorney Richard Scarpitti filed an answer to the petition to quash the indictment of John Willman for the assault murder of Mrs Laura Mutch on December 30 1960. He denied claims that Grand Jury secrecy was violated and asked for dismissal of the rule to show cause and for speedy trial in February. Willman 36 was set for murder trial November 18 but Judge Rossiter granted the defense a rule to show cause on their petition to quash. The defense charged premature announcements and lack of secrecy in Grand Jury deliberations.
