Richard Arlen Lindsey age 30, ex-convict, faces execution for the January 12 killing of Rose Marie Riddle, a baby girl with a congenital heart condition. His common law wife Dixie Blaine, 23, is serving two life terms for bludgeoning the child with an iron after Lindsey hurt her. The couple abducted Rose Marie from a labor camp in Shafter, drove to a remote field, and dumped the body on an alkali flat after the crime. Dixie gave birth to a son while incarcerated and is serving her terms. The pair were captured days after the murder. Lindsey pleaded guilty January 20. Lindsey and Dixie had rekindled their relationship months earlier after prior separations.

Wylie Young from the Graded Tax League of Pennsylvania studied Corry property taxes to explain how land value taxation would work. Corry area officials weigh moving from a Corry Area Jointure to a merged or union school district as state aid and equalized taxation shift. Voters may be asked to approve a merger ballot that could create a larger district with per teaching unit reimbursements of 800. The study notes land value taxation as a policy to reduce rents and spur property improvements, with copies available at the Chamber of Commerce as leaders plan further exploration in coming weeks.
