Loophole Seen in Donation Law By New Jersey Club
GAO auditors warn the Executive Club of the Republican party of New Jersey could exploit a loophole by classifying money as dues rather than contributions. The club, which reported 33 donations of 3000 and one of 1000 to Nixon committees, claims dues fund the money and thus fall outside the new disclosure law. If upheld, it would allow clubs to evade reporting while channeling funds to a national candidate.
