Vote endorses Butler County health unit in county referendum
A state health official calls Butler County voters backing the county health unit an overwhelming vote of confidence. The 4 to 1 endorsement followed a 1950s setup begun in 1954, making Butler the first county unit in the state with Bucks to follow. Allegheny County plans to start by year end and Erie County is recruiting. A separate Pittsburgh crash killed 22 year old Richard Rupert of West End.

Bugler 61 Plays Taps For Fallen WWI Buddies
Hartley Edwards of Denison Texas fulfilled a WWI dream returning to France to pay taps for fallen comrades. In rain he played at the Arch of Triumph during Armistice Day ceremonies attended by about 500 American veterans and a French honor guard. Earlier he performed at Compiegne cemetery and recalled Pershing and Foch as a member of Pershing’s 50 man drum and bugle corps. Marshal Foch invited the group to return, a memory echoed since 1919.
