Koerselman 504 to 68 for tax collector. Ernest E. TeWinkle ousted Dennis C. Westerburg 401 to 191 for superintendent of highways. The lone Democrat winner was Claude E. Dougherty with 243 votes for town justice in an uncontested race.
Lawrence officials report at Harrisburg with FAA and PennDOT that funds for a master plan at the Lawrence Airport are unlikely to materialize soon. The authority foresees repairs funding from PennDOT, while a master plan may not be funded before 1978.

A late winter blizzard dumped over a foot of snow on the upper Midwest and drifted toward Canada. Winds up to 40 mph, heavy snowfall in Minnesota Wisconsin and North Dakota, and several deaths blamed on the storm. Cars trapped, shelters opened, and travel advisories remained in effect as officials assessed impact across Minnesota South Dakota and nearby states.
Atlanta AP reports that CDC director William Foege told a Senate subcommittee that 2000 to 6000 Americans may die annually from Legionnaires disease and that 15000 to 45000 pneumonia cases may be Legionella infections. He noted four deaths recently in England as the first outside the US or Spain.
Corry faces a Sheriff’s sale of the Venture Inn on Route 6 as the city, the unwilling landlord after a June tax sale, awaits a buyer. Sheriff Andrew Hanisek will conduct the sale next Thursday amid reports of thousands in back taxes owed to both city and county.
