Union City Man Struck by Erie Train at Crossing

Union City man Jay Bacon, 48, father of 18, was struck by an eastbound Erie Railroad freight at about 10 PM on One Concord street crossing. He was hurled 40 feet under the gates, severely injured with head and internal injuries including a punctured lung. he was not killed instantly. He and witness Avohe Bisbee saw the oncoming train. Bisbee warned him but he did not heed it. Charles Moristan supervised the crossing gates. Bacon, a Concord street resident, did odd jobs locally. He leaves a wife Alice and 11 children.

Congress Moves to Stop Rail Strike Threat

Washington today saw growing moves by Congress to prevent a sweep of railway worker walkouts.
