State law cuts school retirement costs saving districts
Harrisburg reports that Act 92 of the 1933 Legislature lowers the state and local retirement rate to 3.2 percent, extending the reserve time but reducing annual payments by about 250000 dollars for the state and similar cuts for local districts. The savings come from the School Employers Retirement System and do not affect system soundness. Three-fourths of members have taken advantage of Act 43 allowing retirement contributions based on two-year or one-year salaries to shield future pensions. Also notes a found old drinking glass near Mt. Carmel.
