Fire at Jamestown Steel Partitions injures girl and worker dies

A fire at Jamestown Steel Partitions in Tandon Park caused 11 year old Mary Silshy to die from a gas stove flame incident after a sprinkler system helped contain the blaze. The girl’s father died in a gravel pit accident two years earlier. Earlier, a burglary at 210 East Main Street saw $65 in cash stolen from a purse belonging to manager Mrs Bloyence Peterson, while the purse was later found in the building.
