Winter Snow Disrupts Corry Area Schools and Roads

Snow blanketed Corry area with a couple inches while Union City District closed. Three people were injured in a Route 219 crash near Ridgway as icy conditions caused numerous fender benders across the county. Drivers faced hazardous travel on Route 97 near Arbuckle and west of Route 98.

He Led Two Lives With Two Families

South Dakota economic development director Bob Martin died at 52 leaving a wife and four children in Pierre and another wife with five children in Sioux Falls. Attorney General Janklow confirmed a two family arrangement and said an investigation is under way while estate matters are pursued. The Sioux Falls wife knew nothing of the Pierre family until now. Martin split time between Pierre and Sioux Falls and had offices in both cities. His last salary and personnel file are impounded as probes continue.

Mother charged in death of two daughters in trash

In Worthington Ohio a 21 year old woman faces murder charges after the bodies of her two young daughters were found in trash containers. Authorities also searched for a third daughter and the woman's boyfriend. Laurie Jo Davies, 19 months, and Christine 25 were found Friday wrapped in plastic.

County Lags In Collections Audit Reveals Back Fines

An audit by the state auditor general finds nearly $50,000 in back fines unpaid by the Erie County clerk of courts. Of this, $33,629 accrued under Clerk Byron J. Clapper, with $16,217 from prior clerks dating back to 1871. The attorney general urges Clapper to aggressively collect the unpaid amounts.
