New York AP reports Mrs. Franklin D. Roosevelt died in Manhattan at 78 after a two and a half year illness described as a complicated anemia, with non contagious tuberculosis later added. JFK mourns her as a great lady and tireless reformer, with plans for private and memorial services.

Witnesses Back Route 6 Bypass Plan at City Hearing

A 45 minute hearing in the Municipal Building drew 44 residents as supporters of the Route 5 bypass around Corry praised the project. States to Study Fluoridation Effects on Children Teeth

Pennsylvania and New Jersey will jointly survey fluoridated water impact on local children. The study compares Easton and Phillipsburg school teeth, with Easton using fluoridated water and Phillipsburg not. Each state contributes 2000 dollars. about 2000 children will be examined in each city.

Stanford Hose Readies For Annual Ball

Plans for the 76th annual Thanksgiving Eve Ball by the Stanford Hose Company of Cor ty proceed with tickets from Chief Jerome Davis and fire officials. The event at the Veterans of Foreign Wars post home on West Washington street runs November 21 from 10 p m to 2 a m with Cruck Fern and his band providing music and door prizes to support Hose operating expenses.

Falls Asleep With Cigarette, Killed

Helen Gaster aged 53 of Pittsburgh died early today after apparently dozing while smoking a cigarette at her home. Allegheny County morgue said death due to asphyxiation. She was found slumped in a chair in the kitchen. Dr J Walter Malone, 74, former president of Ilikin University, Decatur, Ul., died yesterday after a brief illness.

Estes Receives Eight Year Sentence In Taxic Absorbed Case

AAP report states Billie Sol Estes, 37, convicted on state charges of swindling over a mortgage on nonexistent liquid fertilizer tanks. Jurors deliberated 2 hours 15 minutes for an eight year term in the State Penitentiary. Estes faces pending anti trust and federal fraud charges related to $22 million in loans tied to fertilizer tanks and other deals. He was linked to a Pecos farmer signer of a $94 500 mortgage on the non existent tanks.
