Off year election results show Democratic surge in cities
Yesterday's Corry vote highlighted stronger Democratic organization aided by organized labor amid heavy Republican registration. Delaware County and countywide results echoed gains for Democrats, while Pittsburgh and Allegheny showed smaller margins than expected. Independent voters favored Governor Warren in California and Senator Taft in Ohio amid harsh campaigns. Senate gains favored Republicans, House control narrowed, and a war era landing by Marines marked the New Providence operation.
