Train Strikes Car Injuring Edwin Fritts in Erie
Edwin G. Fritts was injured and twin Edgar B. Fritts escaped unharmed when Edgar’s car was hit in the rear by an eastbound Nickel Plate freight train at 19th and Sassafras streets. The crash hurled the southbound car into a utility pole, injuring Edwin who later received hospital care and home treatment. The brothers said they traveled about 10 mph and did not see the approaching train, noting the red signals were not operating.
