Union City Dam defeat sparks local reaction and plans
County Commissioner William O Hill calls the dam vote a miss for Erie County and tourist trade, while Warren and neighboring districts may have gained. In Erie, a deadly rainy night claims 12 year old Dana A Smith and 12 year old Darlene Almeda as police investigate. Union City project backers worry about loss of 2.96 million dollars over 40 years and regional tourism. Erie County Parks chief Peter Russo questions revival while Army Corps funds shift. Firemen seek 100000 budget boost for 1975 to maintain equipment, training, and prevention programs across four districts.
