Bear mauls girl at private zoo near Centreville
A four year old girl was mauled by a black bear named Yogi at a private amateur zoo near Centreville Maryland. Four men including three teachers and a volunteer fireman freed her from the cage after the bear tried to pull her under the enclosure. She was treated for bruises and skin punctures, then released with her uncle to return to Farmingdale New Jersey. The owner David Wharton said he left a gate open while getting more food for the bear and noted the animal has molars but no fangs.

Youth Shot In Chase Dies In Cleveland
An 18 year old Richard E B Koenig of Garfield Heights died hours after being shot in the head on Cleveland's East Side. Police said he was one of three youths in a car with stolen plates. Patrolmen Katonka and Wild pursued after a warning shot was fired. Koenig was shot after allegedly ignoring it. The other youths were taken into custody.

Crash Kills 71 Year Old Man Near Warren
A 71 year old Massachusetts man died at Warren General Hospital after a travel trailer jackknifed on Route 59 near Warren. His wife Gina H. Kitts 82 was injured and listed in fair condition. Police continue to investigate the crash and damage estimated at about 6000 dollars.
