Victory despite heavy weather in local election

About 376 voters, 43 percent turnout, elected seven council members and a treasurer amid a winter squall. Incumbents Fehlmatt, Abbey kept seats. Cat Smith is treasurer. Judge Waite led in the orphan court race. local ward results favored Bly and Seholtun. Amendments to abolish county offices and to permit higher debt for Philadelphia were narrowly voted on.

Winners In Erie County Voting

Erie County voters chose a mix of Republicans and Democrats in key offices. The slate includes McKeen Chidsey for judge along with Michael A. Musmanno in the district, with several county commissioners and county officials named in the nonpartisan roll call.

Six Districts Lift Democrats in Local Races

In nearby districts Columbus and surrounding areas voters favored Democratic candidates for township and school board posts. Glyde Mostenger beat Michael Savko 104-87 for the township assessors, while Hollis Uppermen Wario Morel replaced Walker Gordonard Gerald Thompson on school boards. Fredna Jaquith won alongside Walter Onsler, and Worth Hammond defeated Lester Bowles for the supervisor seat amid a broad Democratic sweep. David Curtis won as constable.

Concord Township election yields Republican gains

In Concord Township election results, Harlan Burlingame won the supervisor race over Guy Fralick. Donald Gates and Carl Gates, both Republicans, were elected six-year school directors. Ruth Hammond defeated Mabel Akam for re auditor. About 124 voters participated, most voting Republican.
