Desk volunteers are scheduled for tomorrow afternoon and evening. Several names are listed as admitted or discharged from local addresses including Spar tansburg Clymer Columbus and Corry. Numerous local businesses advertise sales events, restaurant notices, a Christmas party, and rental or seating offerings with contact numbers and venues across Corry and surrounding towns.
The Bureau of Consumer Protection halted two Arizona debt poolers, American Financial Services and International Acceptance Company, from Pennsylvania business. They agreed to cancel current contracts, halt new accounts, and require applicants to state residence. Agencies filed lawsuits in Erie County, accusing deceptive ads promising loans and debt adjustment, charging six percent interest, and misrepresenting service.
Two witnesses invoked the Fifth and 14th Amendments 24 times during testimony before a special House panel investigating guard brutality at a state juvenile prison. Nurse Mary Saunders and Guard John Benner declined to address incidents, speaking only on general feelings toward the probe and their jobs at the State Correctional Institution Camp Hill. Robert Kane sat for an executive-session briefing. panel chair Rep. David Richardson said no conclusions yet and that findings would be withheld until the probe ends, possibly in a month.
