Jack G. Work, 21, died of head wounds from a 22 calibre pistol accidentally fired by a 17 year old girl in Shirley J. Robinson's apartment. Robinson was charged with involuntary manslaughter and held on $1000 bond in McKean County Jail in Smethport. Police say the gun went off while she was fooling around with it.
State Police report two men were wounded Saturday night when a 22 caliber pistol found in a car glove box discharged. William Ibbs 17 of Greenville was shot in the abdomen. Allen Carl Radthe 21 of Ry D 4 Greenville was hit in the left hand. Arthur Dinst also of Greenville was charged with possessing a concealed weapon and released on a $1,000 property bond. Ibbs recovered after treatment at Greenville Memorial Hospital.
Meadville investigation into the killing of Mrs. Anna McKinley enters a second week with no public word on evidence from Harrisburg. State Troopers say officers will keep questioning friends and employers of a suspect as they await a charged slaying with substantial evidence collected. In Atlanta, state corrections discuss savings from prison tobacco purchases, noting potential yearly cuts of about $110,000.
City State Police pursue a slender gunman who robbed Northwest Bank and Trust Co in Seneca Friday, taking 1262 dollars in cash. The suspect, 25 to 26, wore a crew cut and fled in a car later reported stolen by an Oil City man. The bank lies five miles south of Oil City on a chain including Meadville’s Northwest Bank.
