Evalene Kay Hassett and Kenneth Carroll Smith wed in a candlelit ceremony at the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church on October 20. The bride, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Hassett of Fulton Street, wore a floor length bridal satin gown with pearl accents. Attendants included matron of honor Mrs. James Proper and bridesmaid Mrs. Robert Mulvin, both in walnut brown velvet. Best man was John Newell. ushers were James Proper and Russell Smith. A reception followed at the Hotel Corry with relatives from Exie, Sharon, Cleveland, Columbiana and Spring Creek. After a honeymoon, the couple resides in Sharon, where Mr. Smith manages Smith Drug Store. The bride is a Corry Area High School graduate and Edinboro State College alumna.
The Corry Memorial Hospital Ladies Auxiliary discussed a forthcoming card party and fashion show planned for Monday in the Moose Club ballroom. Committees were urged to obtain ticket returns and solicited items, with Mrs. Harold Carr presiding. Members were updated on volunteer desk hours and upcoming events including a Glitter Tour luncheon in Titusville and a Christmas display in the park.

The 40th wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. George Moon was celebrated Sunday at their Gamma Road home with 80 friends. Hosts were Mr. and Mrs. W. T. Williams and Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Smith. A ruby red and white theme highlighted table décor and a tiered cake. Mrs. Kenneth Jaquith helped serve cake and refreshments as guests offered many gifts and a money purse.
The Circle of the First Methodist Church met at the Hast Congress street home of Mrs Boyd Berrett with scripture and music on Thanksgiving. Mrs Oscar Johnson gave a program. Mrs Frank McKnight led the business session in Mrs Alan Cornish's absence. A member tea for the Woman's Society of Christian Service is set for next Monday at 8 o'clock. The next meeting will be a Christmas party at Mrs McKnight's home on December 4.
Mr and Mrs Fred Chua a young Chinese couple from Malaya and Hong Kong will speak at the mid week hour at 7 30 p m at the First Methodist Church They are converts from Confucianism and studied in London England They will discuss Christian church work in Red China and plan to return to Malaya to work among Chinese people Public invited to attend.
Mrs Willis Brown of 318 West Church street hosted eight Readers members yesterday afternoon. As group president she led the business session with roll call responses featuring quotations honoring America’s great personages. Mrs F B Sullivan presented a conservation program urging land preservation for future western wild fowl, followed by a dessert lunch the hostess served. The next meeting is set for November 5 with location to be announced.
Paul and Lois Smith arrived from Warren to run the Corry Memorial Hospital lab replacing Betty Stack. He was head technician at Warren General Hospital. she is a Franklin Institute graduate. The couple share duties at work and home, saying they aim for reliable coverage if one oversleeps.
Corry Grange members met last evening at the Grange Hall with John Decker in charge. Mr. and Mrs. T. R. Sorenson, delegates to the State Grange meeting in Reading, Pa., reported on plans for the forthcoming 90th anniversary next year. Lloyd Billie led a musical skit as refreshments were served. The next meeting is scheduled for November 19.
Harvest card party hosted by the Lillian Guild under Emmanuel Episcopal Church featured cochairs Mrs Paul Ormer and Mrs Robert Moore with help from Mrs A M Lita Mrs James Kensinger and Miss Sheyla Hassan. Guests enjoyed homemade apple pie cheese and coffee before play. Special awards went to Mrs Raymond Sand burg and Mrs Raymond Anderson with prizes at each table. Mrs Edgar Alexander handled reservations.
Lon Mania head football coach at Corry Area High School spoke at the Kiwanis Club meeting at Hotel Corry last evening. He presented this season’s team details and answered member questions before showing films of the Johnsonburg and Titusville games. Frank McKnight introduced Mania.
