Winter Co of Erie filed for an injunction in Common Pleas Court against mass picketing by the AFL Retail Clerks International Association Local 1538. Attorney Cowley said the petition, Judge Rossiter ordered a hearing soon. Pickets allegedly blocked entry and used improper language last September. President George J. Winter signed the complaint.
Defendants including Thomas Kennedy and John Altersberger described as pickets in a labor dispute with a firm over an initial contract. Union counsel Robert Chase denied any charge but warned the union would cease actions if such conduct exists. The union has filed an unfair labor practice charge with the National Labor Relations Board alleging refusal to bargain.
