Olin W. Bracken will address Rotary Club at the regular luncheon tomorrow. Election day is tomorrow with early voting urged. Banks and markets will close for Armistice Day. Postmasters to hire unemployed for Christmas mail rush. A Corry injury case reports discharge from hospital.
Saturday evening a shower honoring Wit and Mrs C Roy Borstorff followed their recent marriage. Guests from Erie Jamestown and Brocton brought gifts. A supper was served and the couple, formerly Miss Anna Biskie of Chestnut street, are at home 2612 West Bond Street. Mr Borstorff works at the Corry Fish Hatchery.
Congressman Charles N. Crosby asked federal authorities to probe milk price fluctuations in Crawford County especially Meadville. He telegraphed to Dr Frederick Howell regarding the situation after leading distributors cut delivered milk to seven cents a quart, sparking renewed dairy farmer tensions at a Crawford County Dairymen meeting.
Bank statement from Corry Pennsylvania reports assets totaling 1 761 476 84 and liabilities of 272 077 80. Notary dates reflect 1933 scrutiny with H Andrews as cashier and Jean Field as notary public.
County commissioners announced arrangements for next Tuesday's election. All voting machines and paper ballots have been delivered and will be used countywide for a light turnout. A deputy will guard districts to prevent disputes and last day enrollment ended today in the commissioners office. For the first time every district is equipped with a machine, with three spares at the courthouse.
Funeral services for Mrs. Bessie Gilson wife of Frank Gilson were held at 2 30 pm Sunday from the Corry Baptist Church after home prayers on Fulton Street. Rev FB A Hook officiated. Interment in Pine Grove cemetery. Bearers were G Gauffreau A N Goldfinch Willard Jones and W F Miller. Out of town relatives included Mr and Mrs A M Gabriel and daughter Mrs Arthur Schneider of Buffalo and Mr and Mrs Rostos Gilson of Clarion Pa.
A profitable session of the Northwestern Pennsylvania Advent Christian Conference ended Sunday evening at the Advent Christian Church in Corry. Rev G F Carter officiated due to Rev T J Smbek's absence. The session opened Friday with plans for evangelistic services. A communion was held Sunday morning and baptism followed at the Baptist church in the afternoon.
Waltur Hale, district official for the Hire district of the Home Owners Loan Corporation, returns to duty after four major operations. T Rossiter Sr., father of Mayor James P. Rossiter, will continue in the post indefinitely due to a flood of loan applications. Charles H. Schloss district manager remained on duty.
The American Legion plans an Armistice Eve dance at the Elks club this Friday night. Good music is engaged to provide real enjoyment for war veterans and friends, with the general public invited.
The Rural Carriers of Erie County gathered at Curry Presbyterian Church for a dinner and program attended by sixty carriers and their wives. Postmaster Harry Auer spoke, C. A. Russell offered a reply, and Mrs. Carrie Houghton shared her France pilgrimage.
