General figures show registered voters ranging from 46,000,000 to 45,000,000 and expected turnout between 35,000,000 and 40,000,000. World War veterans from the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars in the city urge residents to vote no on Amendment No. 5 in Tuesday's Pennsylvania election. They note the 1824 exemption for patriotic property would be eliminated by Amendment No. 4, raising taxes on exservice groups. The VFW post organizers include Charles Keating Clarence Willis James Sullivan and Floyd Black who planned to staff the polls.

New York November 5 Gov Alfred B Smith pressed farmers in a radio speech from a rural station urging support for his Democratic presidential ticket. He attacked Hoover and the Republicans for not offering solutions to farm problems and accused Hoover of promises unkept after seven and a half years in power. Smith defended farm relief measures vetoed by President Coolidge and backed GOP waterway development and cooperative marketing while urging voters to consider who can actually solve the farm crisis.
Two Sunday fires near Union City caused about $3,000 in losses on a farm owned by William King and adjacent property of Russell Seymour. The blaze, starting around 1:30 p.m. from a spark near King's Maxwell coupe, destroyed a barn, a wood shed, a chicken coop, and two cars. Seymour’s home was threatened with about $400 in damage, but neighbors helped save it. Fire sparked additional blight when a shed and coop burned in the barn area.
In Erie Pennsylvania Edwin Collins an 18 year old was released on $2000 bail as investigation continues into a fatal automobile crash on a Sunday. Florence Williams aged 10 and Frances Williams aged 8 were killed when Collins car struck a curb and careened into the Williams vehicle. Andrew Williams father of one of the deceased, his wife and two other children were only slightly injured.
Corry resident Willis Perry of Brook Street is confined to St Vincent's hospital in Erie after a Saturday afternoon collision about four miles west of Erie. He sustained multiple fractures and severe facial injuries with possible internal damage. A cousin and local Eastern Union member alerted relatives. details of the crash remain unclear.
A fire of undetermined origin destroyed a large barn on the Baygin Culver farm in Concord township two miles south of Eigin, at about 3 o'clock Sunday afternoon. The 80 by 40 foot structure held hay and farm machinery, three horses were led to safety, and losses were estimated around 3000 dollars with part insured. suspicion fell on spontaneous combustion.
